The Cairo Attorney General began investigating a legal notice made by Tamer El Sherbiny after the abduction of his wife by a car dealer.
El Sherbiny had bought a Chevrolet pickup truck, from the accused, the owner of the Zuhour Auto Trading Company in the Kom Hamada area of Al-Behira. The car was sold to him for LE 60,000, to be paid in installments.
The husband also claimed that he and his wife signed 10 I.O.Us. The couple then managed to pay 18 checks, and was able to save the remaining LE 15,000 to transfer the ownership of the vehicle to them. The showroom owner, however, insisted on keeping the contract of sale as a guarantee that they pay up their receipts.
El Sherbiny said that the car dealer forged his and his wife’s signatures on false I.O.Us and threatened to take them to court if they didn’t pay these new installments. The husband submitted a notice to the police station in Kom Hamada, only to discover that the car dealer had filed a misdemeanor against them for supposedly not paying an I.O.Us worth of LE 250,000.
The court turned the car dealer’s case down due to a lack of jurisdiction and when El Sherbiny refused to budge, the car dealer threatened to burn the man’s home and even tried to kill him.
The couple was faced with a lot of threats by the car dealer, who warned that they will suffer the consequences of their decisions. The husband consequently filed another complaint.
A few days later, a group of hoodlums attacked him and his wife, who is disabled. El Sherbiny claimed that he was beaten senseless and that they kidnapped his wife. After regaining consciousness he went to Kafr Dawood police station, where he claimed he was turned down because the police chief was a friend of the accused car dealer.
This prompted him to file a complaint with the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Justice. El Sherbiny continues to receive daily phone calls from the kidnappers asking him to pay the forged receipts or receive the body of his wife.
El Sherbiny is threatening to stage a sit-in in front of the Interior Ministry until the Behira police find his wife.
