CAIRO: Mohamed Abou Trika has started rehabilitation after more than a month of rest due to knee problems.
The international playmaker started his program in Germany, where Ahly are holding their pre-season camp.
Abou Trika is making progress, Ahly doctor Ehab Ali told the club s website on Monday.
The 29-year-old said earlier in June that he will be ready for the Zamalek clash in the African Champions League on July 20.
Ahly and Zamalek were drawn in one group in the quarter-finals of Africa s premier club competition.
Fears have been rife that the influential midfielder will still be troubled by knee pain by the time of the Cairo derby.
Abou Trika wants to make a comeback as soon as possible, Ali said.
