CAIRO: Hossam Ghaly will be sidelined for up to three months after damaging knee ligaments in Egypt s 2-0 win over Malawi on Sunday.

Ghaly limped off the 2010 World Cup qualifier midway through the first half, following a collision with a Malawi defender.

I tore knee ligaments, the 27-year-old told FilGoal.com on Monday.

Doctors say I will be out for three months, but I hope it would not hinder my chances of finding a new club.

Ghaly is under contract with Tottenham Hotspur, but his exit from White Hart Lane has become inevitable as he had repeatedly revealed his eagerness to leave.

The versatile midfielder, who was loaned out to Derby County last season, has been linked with Blackburn Rovers in recent weeks.
