CAIRO: Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan has been asked by Belgian giants Anderlecht to participate in the club s centennial celebrations, the player revealed on Thursday.
Hassan, who spent the last two seasons playing for Anderlecht, has been invited to participate in the kick-off of the match between Anderlecht and AC Milan.
Anderlecht s officials called me up to invite me to participate in the match against AC Milan in mid August, Hassan told FilGoal.com.
They have asked me to kick-off the game, as a ‘thank you’ for my efforts with the club over the past two seasons, he added.
The 33-year-old midfielder has joined Egyptian champions Ahly this summer on a free transfer for three years.
He said his presence in Brussels will depend on Ahly s technical staff giving him the permission to attend Anderlecht s big event.
Hassan was nostalgic when he tried to explain why he is looking forward to participating in the event.
It s truly an honor for me to participate in that game especially that Anderlecht is a prolific club and some of the best players in the world played there over the past 100 years.
