Ten killed in family shoot-out over land

CAIRO: Ten people were killed on Thursday when a land dispute in Egypt s Nile Delta erupted into deadly firefights between two families claiming ownership of the property, a security official said.

Ten people were killed and 17 wounded during shooting between the Kallaf and Barbari families in Mit Al-Attar town in Qalyubia province, the official said, adding that the dispute was over 120 acres of land claimed by both.

Police rushed to the scene and there were several arrests, the official said without elaborating. -AFP
