CAIRO: Amr Zaki is set to join Wigan Athletic on loan from Zamalek after he penned a new deal with the latter, the striker s official site AmrZaky.com said.
Following his infamous rift with chairman Mamdouh Abbas, Zaki met with board member Ahmed Tawfeek on Sunday to resolve the problem.
Subsequently, the Egypt striker agreed to extend his contract with the Whites until 2012, before the “club gave him green light to make his dream move.
Wigan will pay £1.5 million to Zamalek in a one-year loan deal, with an option to buy him permanently for £4.5 million next season.
Zamalek have ruled Zaki from the anticipated match against local rivals Ahly in the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
Zamalek s new assistant coach Tarek Yehia said that Zaki was deemed unfit by German manager Reiner Holman. Zaki did not train with the team since the start of pre-season.
