CAIRO: Two Egyptian policemen were stabbed near the home of Minister of Interior Habib El Adly on Monday, his ministry said.
Citizen Ahmed Gouda stabbed and wounded two policemen in the minister s security cordon around 8:30 pm, a statement said.
The officers responded by opening fire and the assailant was wounded and taken to hospital, it said, adding that the motives of the attack remained unclear.
It was the first such incident near the home of the veteran interior minister who has been in office since November 1997. -AFP
