WIGAN: Egypt striker Amr Zaki is set to sign for Premier League club Wigan after arriving in England for a medical.

Zaki, who currently plays for El Zamalek, will join Wigan on an initial one-year loan deal, with the Latics expected to pay one million pounds (? 1.2 million) this year and another five million pounds (? 6.3 million) if he impresses enough to secure a permanent deal.

Although he has scored 27 goals in 48 appearances for his country, Zaki admitted it will be tough to adapt to life in the Premier League.

I m very happy to be here and hope to sign for Wigan. It was difficult for me to come here as my club still wanted me, he told Sky Sports News.

I watch all the Premier League and Championship games and think a loan would be good so I can prove myself.

There is a big difference between English and Egyptian football. The competition and the players are tougher here. -AFP
