EL-ARISH: Bedouin gunmen on Monday opened fire on a car in Sinai, killing the driver and wounding his wife and two children, a security official said.
Mussa Mohammed Mussa Breik, 53, died of gunshot wounds. His wife and children, aged four and 13, were wounded, the official told AFP.
The shooting happened on the Tor Sharm El-Sheikh road used by most tourists heading from Cairo to the popular Red Sea resort on the tip of the peninsula.
The security official said a feud between Bedouin clans could have been behind the shooting.
On Saturday, Sinai Bedouin shot at a passenger bus in the peninsula wounding two people including an infant.
Egyptian authorities have strained ties with Sinai Bedouin since a crackdown on them following a string of deadly attacks between 2004 and 2006 that targeted Red Sea resorts on the Sinai coast. – AFP
