CAIRO: Ten members of Egypt’s main opposition Muslim Brotherhood were arrested on Saturday in the Nile Delta and accused of seeking to spread the banned group’s ideology, a security official said.
All 10 were arrested at the home of one of them and “are accused of holding a political meeting, a charge they denied, the official said.
He added that they are also accused of “propagating the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood after documents relating to the movement were found in their possession.
The organization’s website said it was not known where the 10 were being held.
Last month dozens of Brotherhood members were rounded up in the Nile Delta ahead of a by-election which was won by the ruling National Democratic Party of President Hosni Mubarak. -AFP
