El-ARISH: A Sinai medical official says border guards have shot dead a Sudanese migrant who was trying to cross illegally into Israel.

Imad Kharboush, head of the Northern Sinai ambulance department, says that a 24-old Sudanese man from the war-torn Darfur region was shot with a bullet in the back of his head while trying to get across barbed wire on the Egypt-Israel border early Wednesday.

Kharboush says the man was among a group of four other Sudanese migrants. The other three were arrested, and two of them were slightly wounded in the incident.
