CAIRO: Ten people, including a three-year-old boy, were killed as a speeding minibus crashed into the back of a truck loaded with steel bars on Sunday in Egypt s Nile Delta, the official MENA news agency reported.
The minibus driver lost control, slamming his vehicle into the truck. He was killed on the spot, along with nine others, including the boy, while 11 other people were seriously injured, it said.
Other reports place the blame on the truck driver, who, the reports claim, lost control and plowed into the minibus.
The injured are in intensive care units of hospitals around the town of Banha, north of the capital, MENA said.
Egyptian roads are among the most dangerous in the world, where accidents are common due to poor enforcement of traffic laws.
Around 6,000 people die each year in accidents and 30,000 are injured, according to the transport ministry. -Agencies
