CAIRO: Ahly captain Shadi Mohamed and Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abdel-Monsef were dropped from Egypt s squad for the World Cup qualifier against DR Congo on Sept. 7.
Egypt coach Hassan Shehata has also eliminated ENPPI striker Ahmed Raouf and Ahly s Sayed Moawad and Hossam Ashour from the selection.
The five players were included in the team that lost 4-1 to Sudan in a friendly in August.
Shehata introduced six new players with Ismaili s Mohamed Sobhi and Mohamed “Hommos Soliman making their international comeback alongside Ahly defender Ahmed Al-Sayed and Ghazl Mahalla s Mohsen Hendawi.
Ittihad s young keeper Al-Hani Soliman and Masri left-winger Ahmed Shedid will also get the chance to deputize for Egypt in Kinshasa.
