Egypt drops place, but surpasses Ghana

Egypt has slipped one place, but surpassed Ghana for the first time since January, to lie 22nd in the monthly FIFA Ranking for national teams.

The African champions are now second-best African nation in the schedule behind Cameroon, who jumped to the 12th place.

Egypt grabbed a precious 1-0 victory in DR Congo last month to mark their place in the final round of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers for the Dark Continent.

The Pharaohs are set to be given a top seed come the draw of the five-group final stage.

Spain, champions of the EURO 2008, remained on top of the world, followed by Italy in second place and Germany in the third.

European underdogs Lithuania burst into the top 50 to lie 37th after two astounding victories over Romania and Austria.
