CAIRO: Zamalek have begun procedures to launch their TV channel, the club said on Wednesday.

“Oct. 19 will mark the real start of Zamalek’s channel, board member Sabri Abou-Alam told the club’s official website.

“The company which will manage the channel will be determined by then.

“This company will be responsible for the direction of matches as well as supervising the matches’ studio analysis.

The Cairo giants follow in the footsteps of arch-rivals Ahly, who were the first Egyptian club to launch a TV channel.

Ismaili also said that they consider making a similar move in the near future.

The trio is expected to step up their efforts to own the exclusive rights of broadcasting their home games in the Egyptian League.

Ahly have seen repeated requests to exclusively air their matches turned down by the Egyptian Football Association.

But the Egyptian FA’s stance is likely to change next season when their deal with several TV networks, who currently broadcast Egyptian League matches, run out
