CAIRO: Middlesbrough striker Ahmed “Mido Hossam will undergo fitness tests on Tuesday to see if he’ll feature in his team’s Premiership clash against Chelsea on Oct. 18.
Mido is yet to confirm his participation against Chelsea after the player missed Egypt’s 4-0 over Djibouti on Sunday with a minor groin problem.
“I really don’t want to miss the Chelsea game, especially after I’ve regularly featured in Middlesbrough’s last few Premiership games, Mido told FilGoal.com.
After starting the season as a benchwarmer, the former Ajax man booked a place in Middlesbrough’s strikers by becoming the team’s leading scorer with three Premiership goals.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old stressed that he is staying with the Teeside club, refuting earlier reports that he’ll be joining fellow Egyptian Amr Zaki at Wigan.
“I’m currently happy at Middlesbrough and have no intentions of whatsoever to leave the club, concluded Mido.
