CAIRO: Zamalek asked the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) the permission to play in the African Champions League, after Ismaili favored its participation in the Arabs Champions League over the African competition.
Zamalek missed out on a place in the Champions League after ending the Egyptian League in third place last season.
The league s champion and first runner up guarantee participation in the African Champions League, while the third place plays in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Following Zamalek s request, Egyptian Cup runners up ENPPI asked EFA to take Zamalek s place in the Confederations Cup, in case the Whites are granted permission to participate in the Champions League.
