Old man kills young wife, turns himself in
The body of Nagwa, 35, fully-dressed but with her throat slashed and her body stabbed erratically, was found lying in a deserted area near her home.
Initial investigations revealed that the murder victim was married to a 54-year-old man who constantly argued with her because he was suspicious of her behavior.
On the day of the incident, they had been fighting over her repeated absence from home. In a frenzy, the husband grabbed a piece of glass and stabbed her several times, leading to heavy bleeding. He refused to help or allow her to leave until she drew her last breath.
He then reported himself to the police.
Groom dies of butane gas asphyxiation, bride in coma
The Mahalla Public Hospital received the dead body of Ezzat Attiya, 24 and his 23-year-old wife Walaa Said, three days after the young couple got married.
An inquiry into the causes of death, according to the groom s father Attiya Kamel, 50, a worker at Nasr Textile Company in Mahalla, revealed that the son had died of asphyxiation from a butane gas cylinder leak used to operate a water heater. He did not suspect foul play.
The hospital report confirmed this.
Farmer killed, his cousin wounded in a gun battle
A fierce gun battle broke out in Najaa El-Khyrat between two rival families in the village of El-Hadikah in the Southern city of Sohag.
It was revealed to chief investigator Khalaf Hussein, that a ferocious battle ignited between El-Samana and Utaif families over a land dispute.
Amid dense plantations in El-Hadikah village, the two feuding families exchanged heavy gunfire that raged for six hours, leaving one man dead and another injured from El-Samana family.
The investigations revealed that the accused involved in the incident were Ahmed Mohamed Utaif, 34, and his nephew, Ezz Abdel Fatah, 32, both of whom are escaped convicts with a criminal record in drug trafficking.
Najaa El-Khyrat, along with its neighboring plantations were cordoned off by security forces to tighten the screw on the two criminals.
Eye witnesses confirmed that the gunfire took place from 6 am to 1 pm and that about 1500 rounds of ammunition were used in the battle.
