ISMAILIYA: Ismaili qualified to the second round of the Arab Champions League (ACL) after beating Busaiteen of Bahrain 4-1 in Ismailia on Tuesday.
In the second leg which was played in Ismailia upon Busaiteen s request, Mohab Saied, Mostafa Karim, Mohamed “Hommos Soliman and Ahmed Samir Farag scored Ismaili s goals while Rabie Al-Afawi netted Busaiteen’s only goal.
The Dervishes had the upper hand since the start of the game, and they translated their superiority into two early goals.
After Saied opened the score line, Karim followed up to put his side two goals ahead.
In the second half, the Bahrainis got back into the game and they won a penalty on 56 minutes but Mohamed Sobhi did well to save Mohamed Gomaa s effort.
Nearly 15 minutes later, Busaiteen scored after former Ismaili forward Robert Akwari set Al-Afawi through to shoot past Sobhi on 69 minutes.
The home side were revived after conceding, and they could have scored a third but substitute Mohamed Fadl hit the post from the penalty spot on 79 minutes.
Ismaili finally hit the net again through skipper Hommos powerful header in the 83rd minute before Samir Farag added a fourth one minute from time.
The result sends Ismaili through with an emphatic 7-2 win on aggregate.
