CAIRO: Egyptian duo Ahmed Samir and Mohamed Abdel-Wahed inspired Lierse to a 3-0 home victory over leaders Sint Truidense in the Belgian second division on Saturday.
Right-back Samir broke the deadlock 14 minutes after the restart with a free kick.
Former Belgian international Jurgen Cavens doubled Lierse advantage in the 69th minute.
Egyptian winger Abdel-Wahed whipped in a cross from a right-wing free-kick that was converted by veteran striker Tomasz Radzinski seven minutes from time.
The other two Egyptians within Lierse ranks, Islam Shokri and Sherif Al-Biali, missed the game due to suspension and injury, respectively.
Lierse’s victory moved them into fourth spot in the table with 22 points, just four behind leaders Sint Truidense.
The league winner directly qualifies for the Belgian first division while teams from the second to the fifth places enter promotion play-offs.
