CAIRO: Despite suffering from an ankle injury, Zamalek keeper Mohamed Abdel-Monsef is fighting to regain full fitness ahead of the Cairo derby against Ahly on Nov. 22.
The coaching staff gave me two days rest ending on Wednesday, after that I ll be doing my best to be ready for the Ahly clash, Abdel-Monsef told FilGoal.com on Tuesday.
Zamalek medical staff chief Mostafa Al-Monayeri added that further scans on the goalie s ankle will determine his participation against Ahly.
Abdel-Monsef s injury prevented him from taking part in Tuesday s friendly against Iron and Steel where the Whites won 3-1.
Zamalek will face arch-rivals Ahly for the fourth time this season, after the Cairo neighbors clashed twice in the CAF Champions League and in the Egyptian Super Cup.
