Egypt, Argentina leaders discuss Mideast conflicts

CAIRO: President Hosni Mubarak s spokesman says the Egyptian leader spent two hours discussing the conflicts plaguing the Mideast with Argentina s president during her first visit to Egypt.

Presidential spokesman Suleiman Awwad says Mubarak brought out a regional map to highlight the conflicts seriousness during talks with Cristina Fernandez.

During their meeting Thursday, the two also discussed the global financial meltdown and trade.

Argentina helped build one of Egypt s atomic reactors and hopes to continue civil nuclear cooperation. The last time an Argentine president visited Egypt was 10 years ago.

Fernandez is on a North African trip to help ensure developing countries aren t forgotten in efforts to solve the financial crisis. – AFP
