CAIRO: Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher is set to re-run for the Association s presidency despite the court s decision to suspend him from Friday s elections.

EFA legal councilor Hussein Helmi told FilGoal.com that Zaher has successfully appealed the court s decision, and thus will be able to re-run for the presidency seat.

A ruling was issued by the Supreme Court on Wednesday, suspending Zaher from taking part in the elections after failing to submit his criminal record.

However, Kamal Darwish said that he won t pursue his run in the elections if Samir Zaher was allowed to re-nominate himself.

In an interview with Dream Sport TV, former Zamalek president Darwish urged the National Sports Council to interfere and implement the Supreme Court s earlier rule to suspend current EFA chief Zaher from taking part in Friday s elections.

Darwish added that in case Zaher s suspension ruling wasn’t activated, he and several other candidates will withdraw from the contention for the EFA s presidency seat.
