YOKOHAMA, Japan: Ahly have resumed their trainings in preparation for the team s upcoming second and final FIFA Club World Cup game against Adelaide United on Thursday.
The Red Devils suffered a first round 4-2 defeat at the hands of CONCACAF champions Pachuca on Saturday, and now will be facing Adelaide for the competition s sixth/fifth place.
In Monday s training, Ahmed Fathi trained alone due to a minor groin injury he picked up on Saturday.
Goalkeepers Amir Abdel-Hamid, Ramzi Saleh and Ahmed Adel trained with goalkeeping coach Ahmed Nagi.
In a sign that he might stick with Pachuca s starting line up, coach Manuel Jose divided his squad into two teams with the same 10 players who started on Saturday facing a team picked from the rest of the team players.
After that, the starting players took part in a five a side game before cutting short the session while the rest of the team resumed training for an extra 90 minutes.
Ahly won t have an easy task on their hands when they face Adelaide especially that the Australian outfit are eager to make up for their first round defeat at the hands of Gamba Osaka.
Meanwhile, Fathi said that he has a good chance of playing against Adelaide United.
The injury is getting better. I will have a fitness test on Tuesday to determine if I will be in shape to play against Adelaide, Fathi told FilGoal.com in Yokohama.
Ahly s physiotherapist Ehab Ali echoed Fathi s comments, confirming that the player has a good chance of playing in the Adelaide game.
Fathi is suffering a groin muscle injury and a light knee bruise, but most probably he ll be able to catch the game, said Ali.
