Average yield slips on 182-day Egypt T-bills

CAIRO: average yield on Egyptian 182-day treasury bills fell to 11.635 percent at an auction on Monday, down from 11.763 percent at the last auction on Dec. 1.

The central bank said it accepted bids for bills worth LE 2 billion ($362 million), the same amount it was seeking.

It accepted bids at rates between 11.401 and 11.679 percent compared to a range of 11.641 to 11.83 percent at the previous auction, it added. The bills are for issue on Dec. 16 and mature on June 16, 2009.

At a Sunday auction, the average yield on Egyptian 91-day treasury bills was 11.542 percent, compared to 11.699 percent at last auction on Dec 1.

The central bank said it accepted bids for bills worth LE 1 billion ($180.9 million), the same amount it was seeking. It accepted bids at rates between 11.351 and 11.601 percent, compared to a range of 10.999 to 11.788 percent at the previous auction.

The bills are for issue on Dec. 16 and they mature on March 17, 2009.
