SUEZ: Petrojet secured a dramatic berth in the quarter-final stage of the Egyptian Cup after beating Gaish 2-1 at Suez Stadium on Thursday.
Midfield sensation Walid Soliman scored a 90th minute header to cancel out Baba Arko s 76th minute goal and force the game into extra-time.
Substitute Sayed Hamdi, who set up Soliman for the crucial equalizer, won the game for Petrojet in the 117th minute with a powerful shot from 12 yards.
The league leaders are considered firm favorites for the cup title, following early exits of Egypt s top trio Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaili.
A stranded Gaish side were furious with match referee Kamel Mohamed after the game, protesting against Soliman s equalizer and calling for a penalty in the dying moments of extra-time.
Kamel ignored a challenge by Petrojet defender Ayman Ramadan on a Gaish player, directly before the home side s injury-time leveler.
Television replays also showed that Gaish playmaker Mamdouh Abdel-Hai was fouled by goalkeeper Ahmed Fawzi in the final play of the match, but the referee did not react.
Petrojet will face second-division side Mansoura, who beat Bani Obeid on penalties on Wednesday.
