CAIRO: Ahly assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri denied claims that the Cairo giants made an approach to sign ENPPI striker Ahmed Raouf.

Recent reports suggested that Ahly were interested in luring Raouf, especially after the player said that he nearly joined the Red Devils before joining his current club.

“Raouf is a very good player, but we understand that he has a contract with ENPPI, Al-Badri told Ahly’s official website.

“We have a very respectful relation with ENPPI and all the Egyptian clubs, and if we were to buy Raouf we’d have approached his club first.

The 26-year-old hit man produced some impressive displays for ENPPI this season, where he became the league’s second top scorer with seven goals.

After helping his club to a current third position in the table, as well as reaching the Egyptian Cup final, Raouf earned a call up to the Egyptian national side.
