CAIRO: Mahmoud Abdul-Razek Shikabala said he intends to stay at Zamalek despite being jeered by his own fans during the 1-0 league defeat to Ghazl Mahalla.

The talented winger was caught by TV cameras saying that he would never play again for the Cairo giants after being subjected to taunts from the angry Zamalek fans.

The supporters fumed at their favorite player for failing to rescue the crisis-hit team against Mahalla on Thursday.

I put that incident behind me. I will remain at Zamalek, Shikabala told FilGoal.com on Sunday.

The 22-year-old s morale was boosted by the support of some Zamalek fans who attended Sunday s training session.

Zamalek assistant coach Sami Al-Sheshini has also made a U-turn on his decision to resign from his post.

Al-Sheshini admitted that the White Knights faced the unthinkable prospect of being relegated to the second division following their seventh league defeat of the season.

The former Zamalek defender was appointed last month to assist new coach Michel Decastel.
