CAIRO: Ahly playmaker Mohamed Abou-Trikais set to be sidelined for up to four weeks, after picking up an ankle injury during the League game Petrojet on Sunday.

The 30-year-old had to be moved out of the pitch on a stretcher during the game s first-half after a fierce challenge by Hassan Konde, and further scans on Monday confirmed that he is suffering from a sprained ankle.

Ahly s official website stated that the Egyptian international has started a rehabilitation program and will be out for between three and four weeks.

Abou-Trika is enduring an unlucky season, as he already missed a number of crucial games with Ahly due to successive injuries.

The former Tersana man recently returned from a trip in Portugal and Germany, where he underwent medical check ups following rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Ahly assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri expressed his annoyance over Abou-Trika s injury as he accused some players of deliberately trying to injure the Egypt international.

Petrojet defender Konde came no way near the ball and was lucky to get away with a caution.

I feel that Abou-Trika has been subjected to numerous challenges as though some individuals are trying to hurt him, Al-Badri said after the game.

His absence could be crucial to the Egyptian national side.

Abou-Trika is slightly doubtful for Egypt s World Cup qualifiers final phase opener with Zambia next month.
