Despite the recession and fashion weeks across the world becoming toned down affairs, style and flair weren t compromised this week as the stars came out looking resplendent. Penelope Cruz won for Best Supporting Actress, but had there been a prize for Best Dressed, she surely would have taken another Oscar home. In a vintage Balmain dress, she revoked a sense of old black and white glamour in yards of beautifully embroidered white silk, as did Kate Winslet in her Yves Saint Laurent vintage navy blue number. Anne Hathway in an Armani Prive number proved once again she always knows how to do it right on the red carpet. White was a major color trend as every shade and tone of white was displayed by stars including Sarah-Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson.
