CAIRO: Zamalek are seriously considering taking part in next season s Arab Champions League, chairman Mohamed Amer said.

The Cairo club, who is currently seventh in the Egyptian league, is unlikely to secure a place in either the CAF Champions League or the Confederation Cup.

Speaking to the club s official site, Zamalek interim chairman Amer revealed that applying to the ACL would be reasonable for the Egyptian giants.

The ACL is an intense competition and I think that Zamalek will benefit from the experience of facing big Arab teams, Amer said.

I see no problem in participating in such an event in the new season.

The 2009-2010 ACL edition starts in August and all Arab clubs are entitled to apply for the regional contest.

Zamalek s last appearance in the prestigious competition was in 2006-2007, when they were ousted from the semis by Jordan s Faisali.

Throughout the past few years, Ismaili have been Egypt s most regular representative in the competition.
