CAIRO: Andrei Arshavin said Wigan Athletic striker Ahmed “Mido Hossam posed the greatest threat to Arsenal in Saturday s Premier League encounter.
The Egyptian striker fired Wigan in front at the JJB Stadium with a fine acrobatic effort but had to leave the pitch in the second half after sustaining a head injury.
Following his substitution, Arsenal stormed back to emerge 4-1 winners, thanks to goals from playmaker Arshavin, Theo Walcott, Mikael Silvestre and Alexander Song.
Mido caused a lot of problems for us, Russian international Arshavin told his website.
“They supplied him with long balls and their assault ended with a goal from a corner. It was well deserved.
We had some serious problems but after Mido was substituted we leveled the score immediately.
Mido s goal against Arsenal was his second since joining Wigan from Middlesbrough on loan in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old, who needed eight stitches in his head, should be fit to play in Wigan s next league game against Blackburn Rovers on April 26.
