CAIRO: Education sector administrators staged another protest in front of the Ministry of Education Wednesday, demanding the promised 50 percent salary increase.

Hundreds of protestors called on President Hosni Mubarak to intervene and resolve the matter, after which the protest was thwarted by security forces.

This comes as part of a series of protests staged by education sector administrators who are demanding better government housing facilities, and a 50 percent pay increase which was approved by the People’s Assembly as part of the amended teachers’ law in 2007.

Education sector administrators vowed to continue protesting in different governorates in Egypt until their demands are met.

Last March, they held protests for three consecutive days in different cities. They also resumed with other protests on April 5, 6 and 7 in front of the People’s Assembly (PA).
