CAIRO: The prosecution office is calling for the death penalty for Sameh Naguib, accused in the murder of Hala Fayek, head of the credit department at Banque Misr who was brutally stabbed last Sunday.
After nearly three days of investigations and questioning more than 60 people, police determined that Naguib, the victim’s maid’s husband, had conspired with his wife to rob the house.
According to local press and police reports, Naguib allegedly knocked on the victim’s door at 8 am and when she refused to let him in he pushed her and proceeded to stab her.
He stole LE 4,100 from the safe but overlooked her jewelry because he didn’t know their value, General Kamal El-Daly told the press.
Naguib was reportedly in debt since he was fired from his job one month ago.
Police initially suspected Fayek’s murder had to do with her position as the head of the credit department which gives her the authority to grant loans.
