CAIRO: German newspaper Bild named Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan the Bundesliga player of the week, following the exquisite goal he netted in Saturday s 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Egyptian international was introduced as a second-half substitute 14 minutes from time when the score sheet was empty, and made a substantial impact only three minutes after stepping onto the pitch.

Zidan broke the deadlock from close range after eluding a couple of Frankfurt defenders, before Habib Bellaid netted an own-goal.

I put on a new pair of shoes in that game, apparently they brought me some luck, Zidan humorously told Bild.

The 27-year-old also appeared on the front cover of Kicker magazine while hugging his coach Juergen Klopp in ecstasy.
