Poliform is so unbearably cool, its furniture must be designed with a suave Bond man in mind. By collaborating with different artists, Poliform also produces furniture that is boldly colorful and confidently patterned

Established in 1942, this Italian brand is renowned for offering high quality products at fair prices, keeping ahead of the multitudes of Italian furniture manufacturers. They produce designs that connote all those things we love about the Italians: clean classic style with a touch of modern trends such as colors, materials and finishes in line with fashion trends on the runways.

Poliform offers three signature lines: Poliform for home interiors, Varenna Poliform for kitchen interiors and Poliform Contract for specially commissioned projects. They are about an “Italian quality of life, said Alberto Spinelli, CEO of Poliform.

As the second generation behind Poliform, he spoke about the firm’s success in delivering a brand “that is appreciated by different countries.

Their worldwide success lies in their collaboration with architects and designers. In doing so, Spinelli explained that the different design needs of Poliform’s clients are met. “This is important because each architect can say something that is personal to his own personality.

When collaborating with architects and designers, the creative process for Poliform is quite organic. Asking for a new couch collection, Paola Navone’s eclectic, colorful style delivered a vibrant collection targeting younger clientele, highlighted by her “Big Bug couch design.

A soft circular armchair that reinterprets and translates the curves of a human body on a rigid sofa, it speaks to clients who would appreciate something playful, comfortable and fashionable in their homes.

Collaborating with the brand of Ken Scott, the outcome was a couch collection that played with the same outrageously dazzling flower patterns the designer once used on men and women’s suits in the 60s and 70s.

The blaring color-on-color trademark of Ken Scott shows how classic and clean can mix with spontaneous bursts of creativity and imagination.

Poliform’s clients are between the ages of 35 and 60, “thanks to the flexibility of the collection, which is able to cover requests coming from the market, said Spinelli.

“Poliform Varenna can be good for a young couple looking for well designed products with bright colors or natural wooden finishes whilst taking care of the price. But we can also satisfy the requests of older people who are mainly interested in classical styles with wooden finishes.

“We underline our flexible collection due to the investment in our technology. Our client is interested in sharing, traveling, and generally is used to buying something from Hong Kong, Paris or London.

On what inspires the collections Spinelli said: “The market is our source for inspiration. We try to understand what the existing needs of the market are, and we try to anticipate the needs of the market. We take into consideration the fashion business because our business is linked to it. Fashion is faster and changes more often.

With a variety of styles and pieces on display at the Art of Form showroom, it would only be too easy to incorporate a piece or two into your home.

Art of Form opened its showroom on June 6 at Designopolis, the new furniture strip mall on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road. The sprawling store brings together high-end furniture brands from Italy, Spain and the Netherlands all under one roof.
