CAIRO: Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan said he and his teammates enjoyed playing Brazil in the Confederations Cup regardless losing 4-3.
The African Champions put on an impressive display and only lost 4-3 to a 91-minute penalty-kick.
“I told the players before the game that we are going to play the most entertaining side in the world, Hassan told ART Sports.
“I said we shouldn’t be afraid but we have to try to enjoy this game and I think we all did.
Hassan, 34, played in Europe for almost a decade including two successful seasons with Belgian giants Anderlecht.
He featured against some of Europe’s big clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich either in friendlies or Champions League fixtures.
But defending the national colors against the six-time World Champions had another taste, especially with being so close from registering a memorable draw.
“We have made Africa proud, said the veteran midfielder, who won the African Champions League with Ahly last year.
“Before the tournament began, I said that Egypt and South Africa are capable of defending the continent’s pride and I think we did just that tonight.
