CAIRO: Brazil forward Alexandre Pato said that conceding three goals to Egypt in the Confederations Cup was down to the Pharaohs lethal front line rather than his side s weak defense.
The six-time World Champions opened their account in the confederations Cup with a 4-3 victory over Egypt to take charge of Group B on Monday.
But the game left a bitter taste in coach Carlos Donga s mouth as it was the first time his Brazil side concede three goals in one game since he took over in 2006.
People say we have defensive problems. However, I believe our defenders had a very good match, Pato told reporters.
Egypt was very good in attack, especially their striker [Mohamed] Zidan, who created many problems for us.
Borussia Dortmund striker Mohamed Zidan gave Brazil a run for their money as he scored twice, leveling the score line on both occasions.
But a double from Kaka and two other goals from Luis Fabiano and Juan gave Brazil a hard-fought victory.
