No new cases of H1N1 in Egypt Tuesday

CAIRO: No new cases of the H1N1 virus were reported in Egypt by press time Tuesday, the first swine-free day since the beginning of June when the first case was confirmed.

The last case, the 40th, was reported by the Ministry of Health Monday, while five cases were reported on Sunday.

Minister of Health Hatem El-Gabaly said the number of cases will decrease within the coming weeks, but the virus will gain momentum and the number of cases in Egypt could reach 3,000.

Twenty-eight of the cases have recovered while 12 are currently undergoing treatment.

Saudi Arabia reported six new cases Tuesday, bringing the total to 45.

Iran reported its first case of swine flu Monday, an Iranian who recently arrived from the United States.

Also on Monday, Tunisia reported its first two cases.
