CAIRO: The German Prosecutor General instated a publishing ban on details pertaining to the murder case of Egyptian Marwa Al-Sherbini, according to Iranian Press TV.
Marwa Al-Sherbini was stabbed to death on July 1 in a courtroom in Dresden, Germany by a man identified only as Alex W. Her husband Elwi Okaz was seriously injured in the chaotic courtroom, as their 3-year-old son Mostafa watched.
The publishing ban was instated after German Focus Magazine claimed that the murder was premeditated, said Christian Avenarius, spokesman for the German Prosecutor s office.
According to local press reports, Al-Sherbini’s family is angry about the media blackout, and believes it’s an attempt to conceal truths and facts.
“The press ban surprised us, Ali Al-Sherbini, Marwa’s father reportedly said. “I’m sure they are trying to hide information about many things such as the court’s delay to summon police officers once my daughter was attacked, and the police guard who shot Dr. Elwi Okaz, my son in law.
Al-Sherbini believes the media ban is meant to keep people around the world in the dark, to ultimately protect Germany’s reputation. “Other information they are trying to hide concerns the poor security of courtrooms which allow civilians to carry weapons, as well as the racism that fills Germany, said the distraught father.
“Germany is refusing to expose all of this to avoid the condemnation of other countries, he continued.
According to Agence France-Presse, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blames Germany for the killing of pregnant Marwa.
Ahmadinejad said The judge, the jury and the German government are responsible in this case, as quoted on a state media website.
The Iranian president also criticizes US president Barack Obama, European leaders and the UN secretary general for not responding to the brutal murder.
When there is a small incident in a country which opposes them, they adopt resolutions against it, but they don’t respect the minimal rights of people in their own countries, said Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad summoned German ambassador to Tehran, Herbert Honsowitz, and expressed his resentment of Marwa’s murder. He also insisted that Germany move towards protecting the rights of Muslims and other minorities living there.
The official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that Alberto Bradaninni, Italy’s ambassador to Iran, was also summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where Ahmadinejad condemned the “silence of those who claim to support democracy and human rights.
Sunday in Pakistan, Shiaa Muslim activists from the Imamia Students Organization (ISO) marched in a protest rally in Karachi. They burnt German, Israeli and US flags to express their anger with the cruel murder and its aftermath.
