CAIRO: Zamalek have snapped defender Ahmed Ezz Al-Regal, who was released by Libya s Hilal in the close season, on a free transfer.
Hilal had to dispense with the Egyptian center-half in accordance with the new legislation that prohibits foreigners from plying their trade at the Libyan League.
Ezz Al-Regal had a spell at Mansoura before joining Hilal, and now he is set for his first Egyptian Premier League adventure.
We have signed free agent Ezz Al-Regal after Hilal had to offload him pursuant to the new law, which states that only indigenous players can represent the Libyan teams, Zamalek s official Maher Al-Yamani told FilGoal.com.
He has already put pen to paper, but the fee and the length of the contract are yet to be determined.
We wanted the player to pen the contract first in order to make sure the deal would go through.
