CAIRO: Ahly captain Ahmed Al-Sayed and assistant coach Alaa Maihoub have both been sanctioned by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), following incidents in the Super Cup defeat to Harras Hodoud.
The Egyptian football governing body said that defender Al-Sayed is suspended for two games for elbowing Hodoud winger Ahmed Abdul-Malek.
Al-Sayed received an early red card as Ahly lost the trophy to Tarek Al-Ashri s team, but the Reds officials blamed referee Hamdi Shaaban for last month s defeat.
Assistant coach Maihoub slammed the referee at the post-match conference and was accordingly fined LE 5,000 and suspended for one match.
