CAIRO: Egypt have jumped five spots to lie 33rd in the monthly FIFA Ranking for national teams.
The 3-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Rwanda in July helped the African champions gain 25 points, making them the highest-scoring nation in the top 50.
The progress saw Egypt leapfrog African rivals Nigeria and Ghana to become third continentally after Gabon, Cameroon and Ivory Coast.
No significant changes occurred in the top 20, even though Germany overtook Italy s fourth place, leaving the World Cup holders fifth.
Confederations Cup champions Brazil remain in charge of the table, followed by Spain and Holland.
