CAIRO: The Supreme Military Appeals Court upheld a ruling sentencing Magdy Ahmed Hussein, secretary general of the defunct Labor Party, to two years in jail for illegally crossing the Egyptian borders to Gaza.

The verdicts of military appeals courts are final, according to Egyptian law.

Last February, the Supreme Military Court sentenced Hussein to two years in jail and a fine of LE 5000 for crossing the Egypt-Gaza border during the 22-day Israeli offensive on Gaza war in December 2008/January 2009.
