CAIRO: Egyptian Football Association (EFA) official Fathi Nosir denied on Tuesday that former Tersana coach Mohamed Omar was appointed as Egypt U-16 manager.

Ex-Egypt international Omar told FilGoal.com earlier in the day that he took up the job after being approached by EFA board member Ayman Younes.

He also stated that he would be assisted by former Ahly star Walid Salaheddine and former Zamalek midfielder Tamer Abdel-Hamid.

But technical committee head Nosir said the post is still vacant.

I m still going through the candidates CVs, and a final decision is yet to be made, he said.

Omar quit Tersana last season after the Hammers were almost certain to go down.
