CAIRO: Security released 11 of the recently detained Muslim Brotherhood members following several release orders from different Cairo courts.

Prominent Brotherhood member and chairman of the Arab Doctors’ Union, Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, is still being detained.

Amer Bassam, deputy leader in the group’s office in Sharqeya, leads the list of those released.

The South Cairo Criminal Court had issued a release order last month. The North Cairo Criminal Court issued another one this past Thursday.

The Zagazig prosecution office released nine other Brotherhood members who were arrested on June 26.

The members are: Salah Abdou Mohamed, general manager at the Central Auditing Agency; Osama Ibrahim Ashour, employee at Al-Azhar Institute; Maysarah Mohamed Mahmoud, accountant; Nafie Mohamed Mansour, pharmacist; Mohamed Al-Sayed Imbabi, accountant; Mohamed Al-Saed Al-Sherief, computer programmer; Amr Ezzat, engineer; Ahmed Mohamed Soliman, physician; and Abdel Rahman Al-Sayed Khalil, employee in East Delta transportation Services Company.

On Thursday, Al-Arish prosecution office released Bassam Adel, Brotherhood member in Al-Arish, a few hours after his arrest.

Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Ashraf Abdel Ghafar.

Court release orders have been mainly ignored by security bodies.

The Fayoum primary court accepted the appeal filed by Ahmed Ragab Al-Sayed, MB from Fayoum, who was arrested on June 27. The acceptance would legally annul the prosecution’s decision to renew his detention.

The Ismailia prosecution office renewed the detention of five MB members for 15 days pending investigation.

All members who were recently released or are still being held were charged with joining an illegal group.
