CAIRO: Ahmed “Mido Hossam scored his first goal for Zamalek to help them to a 2-1 victory over second-division side MCDR in a friendly game on Sunday.

The towering striker, who joined Zamalek from English side Middlesbrough on a season-long loan, opened the scoring midway through the first half.

He met a right-wing cross from Ahmed Ghanem with a fine volley that left the keeper with no chance.

Striker Amr Zaki was also included in the starting line-up after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Zaki and Mido are likely to be coach Michel Decastel s preferred partnership upfront when Zamalek meet Petrojet in their second Egyptian Premier League game on Thursday.

Left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi, who arrived from Ghazl Mahalla in the close season, also scored his first goal for the Cairo giants to double their advantage.

MCDR striker Ayman Kamal pulled one back seven minutes before the break when he converted a penalty.
