Egypt index tracks sideways in low volume

CAIRO: Egypt s main index tracked sideways in low volumes as big cap firms pared some of their sharp losses from the previous session.

Egypt Kuwait Holding helped keep the market positive, adding 2.4 percent. Orascom Construction gained 0.3 percent after falling 5.5 percent on Monday.

Orascom Telecom, another heavy faller in Monday s sell-off, was heavily traded but barely moved, ending 0.05 percent higher.

One of the only other positive stocks is SODIC, up 0.7 percent. The real estate developer on Monday posted a first half net loss of LE 20.8 million.

The index ended 5 points, or 0.1 percent higher at 6,293 points. -Reuters
