CAIRO: United Arab Emirates investor Sulaiman Al-Fahim has completed his takeover of Portsmouth, the English club announced on Wednesday.
Sulaiman Al-Fahim welcomed this agreement and looks forward to helping the club build on its impressive history and achieve new successes in the Premier League, the club said on their website.
Al-Fahim has already passed the Premier League s fit and proper test to become Pompey s new owner.
He succeeds Alexandre Gaydamak, who decided to sell the cash-strapped club after it endured numerous financial problems.
Portsmouth had to sell two key players in Glen Johnson and Peter Crouch, who joined Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
Al-Fahim made no secret of his desire to bring Amr Zaki, who spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic, to Portsmouth despite Zamalek s insistence that he would stay put.
It remains to be seen whether Al-Fahim will pursue his interest in signing the Egypt striker.
