CAIRO: Playmaker Amr Samaka has become the second Gouna player in less than a month to suffer a serious knee injury.

Scans showed that Samaka ruptured the cruciate ligament in his knee, the team s doctor Adel Al-Haddad told FilGoal.com on Thursday.

The former Ahly man limped off the pitch in the first-half of Gouna s 2-1 defeat to ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday. He faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The news will come as a major blow to Gouna coach Ismail Youssef, who saw midfielder Wael Riad sustain a similar injury few days before the league s start.

The newly-promoted club were tipped for a top-half finish this season following their active moves in the summer transfer window.

However, they failed to secure a single win in their first three league matches, drawing twice and losing once.
